RWE Npower Hold Wylfa B Public Meeting

by Mike Evans
(Wales)

RWE Npower will consult local people on proposals to build a new Wylfa B nuclear reactor on Anglesey.

The subsidiary of the German power giant RWE AG has formed a joint venture with E.ON UK to compete in the new nuclear build programme in Britain.

This new consortium is currently poised to enter an online auction along with other hopeful energy companies for the land owned by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) at Wylfa, as well as Oldbury and Bradwell.

RWE Npower are holding a session on Wednesday, 18 March at Bethel Chapel Rooms on Cemaes High Street between 2 pm and 8 pm.

Local people are encouraged to go along where they will have the opportunity to hear the company's views on new nuclear build on the island, as well ask their pressing questions on this major project.

At Wylfa on Anglesey there are two packets of land going through the auction, one owned by the NDA and the other by French energy company EDF.

You can contact RWE Npower on (0845) 136 0104.

RWE name
by: Lee

don't think it matters if Mr Smith can't tell you what RWE stands for. I'm more concerned about their plans for the site, the environment, health and safety and what benefits will come to the island.

Not impressed by RWE NPower
by: Rob

The previous evening, the RWE NPower team presenting plans for Wylfa B couldn't even get their laptop and projector to work.

Consequently they failed to deliver their planned presentation. Alan Smith their Project Manager for Wylfa B said he "did not correctly know what the initials 'RWE' stood for - and it was unpronounceable German"!

I couldn't entrust them to build a garden shed.

RWE NPower info
by: Jo

I understand that PR company Camargue are organising the event and RWE NPower will be represented by Alan Smith who is the project manager for this location at this stage.

He should be able to answer most of the questions about the project.
