The Anglesey Arts Forum team is encouraging artists from Anglesey to join the prestigious Open Studios and Galleries in 2014.

A wide range of talented artists and craftmakers open their studios every Easter, inviting visitors to see this normally hidden world at every imaginable kind of interesting venue, from garden sheds to galleries.

"When I first moved to Anglesey, I joined the Arts Forum and opened my studio at Easter. I found it was one of the best ways to meet other artists and people who are interested in art.

I have exhibitions throughout the year but every Easter I focus on preparing my work and my studio to get ready to meet the visitors who are interested in my work", says Helen Grove-White, artist and Vice-Chair of Anglesey Arts Forum.

The application process for artists is open now and all applications must be received by 31 October 2013 to join the event this coming Easter.

"If you are thinking of joining, I encourage you to chat to an artist who is part of the event. If you are worried that your studio isn’t suitable, there are other options available.

We want all artists on Anglesey to join the Anglesey Arts Forum and be part of the network. By joining, you will have access to professional development workshops, joint exhibitions and a page on the Forum website," says Helen.

Funding from project supporters such as Arts Council of Wales and Anglesey County Council has allowed the development of the website and the production of the Guide, and has supported the promotion of the event.

The project has received funding through the
Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007–2013, which is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.

"Our call for artists coincides with the Anglesey Performing Arts Weeks (18 October to 3 November) and the Holyhead Arts Festival, which this year feature a very strong line up of both national and international musical talent.

Further details are on the APAW tab on the Forum’s website. "The Anglesey Arts Forum exists to promote the arts on Anglesey. It is free to become a member of the Forum, but with a £60 fee payable by artists who wish to join the Open Studios event," says Mike Gould, the Ucheldre Centre General Manager and Chair of the voluntary Anglesey Arts Forum Committee.

Anglesey Arts Weeks Open Studios and Galleries 2014 runs from Saturday 12 to Sunday 27 April 2014. If you wish to find out more about joining the event, please contact Heather on 01407 763361 or he(at)ucheldre(dot)org urgently. Entries for the 2014 Open Studios are required by 31 October 2013.

"The artists are organised into clusters. If you contact Heather, she will put you in contact with your local organiser who can tell you more about the event and how neighbouring artists have benefited from opening their studios.

We are now an established event and have a wide audience who appreciate the art created on Anglesey, so don’t miss out and enquire about joining us now," says Helen.
