Car Hire and Travel to Anglesey by Road

So car hire is your preferred option for the start of your Anglesey adventure. You will find the main firms offering this service have a desk at Manchester Airport.

You may prefer to use a road map but the following directions are straightforward. The road signs are very good and you should find the journey west a breeze.
Directions:

  • At exit, join M56 (signposted Wythenshawe, Wilmslow)
  • Continue and follow signs for Chester (for about 36 miles)
  • Exit at the junction signposted for North Wales and Queensferry (A5117)
  • Continue forward, follow directions for North Wales
  • You are now on the A55, just keep going! It's easy!

The journey from the airport to Anglesey should take about two hours, possibly less if the roads are quiet.

You will find there are service stations along the route (A55), after the M56 merges into the A5117. These provide a range of services including fuel, meals, refreshments and toilet facilities.

Also, if you did not pick up a road or OS map at the airport, you should find them on sale at these stops.
