Holyhead Cardiff Fast Train Service Go-ahead

by Dewi
(Ynys Mon)

The Holyhead to Cardiff rail service run by Arriva Trains Wales will soon be boosted by a new North South Premier Service.

This new faster North-South service, starting on 15 December, will be a boost for links between Anglesey and the capital in South Wales.

When in service passengers should experince a reduction by around 30 minutes in the current five-hour journey. The aim is for the Holyhead train to arrive in Cardiff Central by 1000 BST each morning and depart at 1620 BST.

And if you are getting aboard at Bangor, the new north south service means you would be able to travel to Cardiff in under four hours.

At first the new service will go via Crewe rather than Wrexham because Network Rail cannot offer a line from Holyhead to Cardiff via Wrexham to arrive in the capital before 1000 BST.

This is a boost to passenger choice and to sustainable transport. So instead of having to travel down the A470, the passenger can either use the faster train service or the Anglesey Cardiff flight from RAF Valley.

This could be the start of more rail services across the UK. Why not expand these services further?

For example, Cardiff to Penzance, linking with Holyhead service; use the Severn Tunnel more.

The service from the south west to North wales is rubbish because you have to change at Birmingham or Crewe.
