Menai Mini Marathon, Anglesey

by Lion Gwilym Pritchard
(Benllech)

The 27th race took place recently, it is clasified by Abergele Harriers as "the toughest 10k race in North Wales".

The winner was Rob Samuel in 33 minutes 33 seconds, Rebecca Riddings was the first female back in 42 minutes 23 seconds.

The last runner finished the race in just 1 hour and 9 minutes, a very good time. The day was full of fun and good fellowship , our timekeepers were given a hard time when Lucy Beesley's gang came in within 25 seconds of each other - well done girls, we hope to see you on 25 January 2009.

The next event the Lions are involved in will be the SportsAid Mile at Wylfa Power Station on Sunday 16 March 2008- an all day event. A Big Roar of Thanks to everybody who took part in the Menai Mini from Anglesey Central Lions.

Thanks to the Lions
by: Jo Quinney

I was the runner/slogger who came in last with 1 hour and 9 mins which for me is a PB.

I would just like to thank the Lions for the great event that is the 'Menai Mini Marathon'.

Perfectly place at the start of the year to encourage us all to get running through 2008. It has inspired me to keep on trying.

I am hoping to complete a half marathon this year.

This year’s race was packed with keen club runners and I brought up the rear having loads of fun.

The race organisers cheered me on around the course and make it a very enjoyable fun run.

So a big thank you to all the Lions who organised the event and volunteer on race day, standing around the course in the cold.

I already have written the date for 2009 in my diary, have you?
