Aberffraw Dunes Video, Anglesey Coastal Path Approach

Get your walking shoes ready and prepare to scramble up the wild, rugged grassy Aberffraw dunes off the Anglesey Coastal path near the seaside village of Aberffraw.

This is a tantalizing prospect because when you leave your car near the main A4080 road you start to walk across some open sand dunes.

To your left, looking in a south easterly direction is the massive, imposing Snowdon mountain range, which runs down into the Lleyn peninsula.

While to the north west is the quiet village of Aberffraw with the River Ffraw meandering its way to the open sea.

As you walk south westerly through the twists and turns of the undulating sand dunes and marram grass, you begin to hear the distant sea.

As you get closer, the roar gets louder and you hear the waves crashing on the wide expanse of Aberffraw beach, another Anglesey beach with the Seaside Award for quality.

You can get to these dunes from the A4080, either approaching from the west at Junction 5 of the A55 near Bryngwran or from Llanfairpwll in the east. Just have a look at the Aberffraw beach map here.
